We are looking for a Regulatory Support Officer to join our forward thinking and ambitious Food and Safety Team. Your role will be to support the delivery of a range of services for which the Council is responsible in relation to food safety, food hygiene, food business registrations and approvals, food poisoning investigations, occupational health and safety, skin piercing, infectious disease control, and all port health functions for Lowestoft port, at a level appropriate to the post holder's qualifications, experience and competence.
The key tasks will include collecting samples, food safety visits, investigations, compliance checks, working with external partners and project work such as health promotion.
You must hold a Level 3 qualification/certificate in a relevant subject, PLUS additional practical and procedural knowledge gained and demonstrated through achievement of relevant industry food safety qualifications or courses and relevant experience in the activities undertaken by the Food and Safety Team.
Having a working knowledge of the IT system Uniform is desirable.
If you have good analytical skills, can communicate effectively at all levels, enjoy working effectively within a team, and are organised and able to prioritise your own workload, then we would love to hear from you.
The food and safety team, work in an agile way, with a mixture of home and office working, depending on individual preferences and service requirements. As the role involves engaging with businesses, both proactively and reactively, the successful applicant must be available at times when they are trading, and when an urgent response is required. This will include visiting premises during opening hours including and when required, in the evenings or at the weekends.
