Job Description
As a Print and Graphic Designer within Next’s Fashion Brands team, you will act as a creative guardian for a prestigious portfolio including Paul Smith, Allsaints and Ted Baker childrenswear, ensuring their unique brand "DNA" is translated into elevated, commercially successful designs across multiple product categories for ages 0‑14 years. By bridging the gap between trend research and technical execution, you’ll make a tangible impact on the aesthetic direction of our collections, reacting with agility to market data to keep our offerings ahead of the curve. You will thrive in a highly collaborative environment, working side‑by‑side with partner brands and internal garment teams to bring concepts to life across diverse product categories. To ensure your success from day one, Next provides comprehensive brand immersion and technical onboarding, supporting your transition into our fast‑paced, premium design landscape.
Working Pattern
Typically 5 days in the office, with core hours flexible between 8 am and 6 pm.
What You’ll Take On
* Design high‑impact collections and create innovative, commercial, and elevated prints and graphics that align with brand identities and drive sales.
* Manage factory partnerships, liaising directly with global factories and suppliers to oversee the production process, ensuring your creative vision is translated accurately into the final product.
* Build trusted relationships and foster strong, professional bonds with external brand partners and internal teams.
* Coordinate cross‑functionally with Product Technologists, Buying & Merch teams to develop collections that meet quality standards and hit every milestone on the critical path.
* Translate global trends, researching and communicating emerging trends in colour, fabric, and graphic techniques, turning abstract inspiration into actionable design concepts.
* Deliver technical precision by producing detailed, accurate tech packs that provide factories with clear specifications needed to minimise errors and maximise efficiency.
What You’ll Bring
* Versatile design expertise – an adaptable style that allows you to switch effortlessly between different brand aesthetics, product categories, and age ranges across both boys’ and girls’ wear.
* Technical mastery – highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite with a deep understanding of print techniques (photographic and vector), trims, and woven branding; able to build thorough tech packs respecting factory capabilities and price points.
* Commercial sharpness – stay ahead of market trends and understand how to compose graphics and logos that are commercially viable and on‑brand.
* Resilience and agility – thrive in fast‑paced environments, stay organised and positive even when priorities shift, viewing change as an opportunity to innovate.
* Clear communication – present concepts confidently and communicate technical requirements clearly to both internal stakeholders and global suppliers.
* Collaborative spirit – dedicated team player who enjoys building professional trust and is ready to mentor and support junior designers.
* Forward‑thinking skills – while not essential, experience with 3D design software, AI visualisation tools, or a background in garment construction will give you a significant head start.
Portfolio
To complete your application, submit a digital portfolio that highlights your ability to deliver elevated, high‑end designs tailored to the premium childrenswear market. We are specifically looking for visionary work that demonstrates forward‑thinking trends and sophisticated design flair capable of pushing creative boundaries. A broad design hand‑writing from menswear, womenswear or childrenswear backgrounds is welcome. Please ensure your digital samples are uploaded with your submission, as we do not consider applications without a portfolio.
