The project:
This is an opportunity to join a growing multidisciplinary delivery team working with the Ministry of Justice. The focus of our work is on the delivery of additional capacity as part of a national prison expansion programme across the MoJ's estate.
Due to our continued growth with the Ministry of Justice, we require a Senior Project Manager. This role will be expected to provide project management across all stages to deliver the project against cost, time and quality requirements. This role sits in our consultancy business, specifically the justice and blue light sector.
This position will suit those looking to further their careers with a major project or programme role. In addition to achieving the client's own transformational estate objectives, the project's priorities include health safety and wellbeing, BIM and digital construction, sustainability, government soft landings, social value creation, people and skill development and collaboration.
This programme is being used as a catalyst for some industry-wide innovations and would suit candidates interested in supporting and championing these causes.
This is a client-facing role, responsible for working together with team members, developing the clients' strategy, through to assisting in the appointment of the extended professional team of local consultants and contractors.
You'll be responsible for:
* Developing and managing effective communication and liaison with all relevant internal and external stakeholders to ensure that requirements are identified, assessed and appropriately integrated into the project.
* Working with the client and reporting to the project lead responsible for helping to establish the strategy and delivery for the project.
* Supervising in developing the client's brief, delivery strategy and supervising the scheme's design management, procurement, and execution.
* Working with a dynamic team that strives for quality, safety, cost and schedule improvements at every opportunity with all delivery partners, challenging and seeking to improve the project deliverables.
* Coordinating, planning and managing internal and external meetings about the project.
* Driving the procurement of services and works required to deliver the project.
* Understanding of budgets, estimates and ability to review and challenge contractors' proposals.
* Providing input into client system safety and project risk assessment and management process.
* Understanding the design process throughout all stages of the project life cycle and managing technical aspects as they arise.
* Managing pre-contract design development and post-contract scope changes in an efficient manner.
* Producing strategic project programmes and have the ability to scrutinise and integrate programmes from consultants and contractors.
* Understanding risk management and working with project teams to identify, schedule, and establish mitigation strategies for project risks.
You'll need to have:
* Degree in a relevant discipline, with professional membership (RICS, CIOB, APM or equivalent).
* Experience in contract administration, ideally with NEC forms.
* Proven consultancy delivery expertise, digitally savvy, and strong client relationship skills.
* Public sector experience preferred, with sustainability awareness and collaborative team focus.
