Job Overview

You would be part of the LD Psychology team, supporting direct clinical work including assessments and some interventions, indirect clinical work including supporting clinics, groups, and report writing, and assist with the administration of the psychology team, for example maintaining databases and taking and disseminating meeting minutes. You will have clinical supervision with a qualified clinical psychologist and have the opportunity to attend reflective practice groups. We are a friendly and supportive psychology team. We have regular meetings which include CPD and reflective spaces.
We have good regional links as we are active members of the LD SIG (linked to the Faculty for People with Intellectual Disabilities, part of the BPS). You would have the opportunity to attend the LD SIG meetings. We encourage regular CPD and this would be discussed in your annual PDR. Responsibilities

* Client Care Support: Contribute to the delivery and enhancement of psychological care across all sectors of service.
* Assessments & Interventions: Undertake clinical, cognitive, and neuropsychological assessments, and provide psychological interventions under supervision.
* Group Work & Collaboration: Assist in developing and co‑facilitating therapeutic groups, including administration and evaluation of outcome data.
* Administration & Research: Support audits, statistics, research projects, teaching, and project work while managing daily tasks independently under supervision.
* Formulation & care plans: Assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological treatment and/or management of a client's problems, under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist.
* Therapeutic groups: Assist in the organisation, coordination and running of therapeutic groups for people with LD and their families/carers.
* Neuropsychological tests: Offer neuropsychological tests, rating scales as appropriate and psychometric screening. Training will be provided.
* Psychological interventions: Offer psychological interventions for a range of issues covered by the service under supervision.
* Client assessment support: Assist other staff to assess clients and review their care in preparation for multi‑disciplinary reviews.
* Framework development: Assist in the development of psychologically based frameworks for the understanding of patient care across all settings where care takes place including in a community setting.
* Multi‑disciplinary participation: Attend and contribute to appropriate multi-disciplinary meetings, referral assessments and multi‑agency meetings.
* Teaching, Training and Supervision: Receive regular clinical supervision in accordance with professional practice guidelines and gain teaching from other professionals.
* Professional experience: Gain wider experience of professional psychology within the NHS over and above that provided within the principal service area where the post holder is employed.
* Skills development: Develop skills and competencies that assist in the delivery of current duties and identify own learning needs.
* Service development: Assist in the design and implementation of service development projects within the service as required.
* Service development meetings: Attend meetings in which service developments are planned and discussed.
* Audit and research participation: Assist in the design and implementation of audit and research projects for clients in LD services. Undertake data collection, analysis, the production of reports and summaries using IT and statistical programmes.
* Evidence‑based literature: Undertake searches of evidence‑based literature and research to assist qualified clinical psychologists in evidence‑based practice in individual work and work with other team members.
* IT duties: Maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping and report writing in accordance with policies and procedures. Undertake specific administrative duties as required including maintaining copies of tests, papers and scanning in reports. Create or format databases or spreadsheets using computerised systems.

* Reference requirements: Appointment to this post is subject to the Trust receiving satisfactory references covering 3 years of employment or study. Please ask your referees to respond promptly to reference requests.
