We have an excellent and exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and suitably experienced Senior Practitioner/Sister/Charge nurse to Operating Services at Royal Hallamshire Hospital.

We are looking for dynamic, enthusiastic, committed and aspirational people who want to do a good job and fulfil their own personal objectives and goals and make a difference to patients and the staff alike.

Main duties of the job

Applications are invited from Operating Department Practitioners and Registered Nurses who have extensive experience in Theatres.

Possession of a Post Basic Qualification or equivalent and specialist competencies is essential. Completion of management/leadership development would be desirable.

Applicants should hold a relevant teaching/mentoring qualification.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate clinical expertise and management and leadership skills. It would be expected that applicants would be able to demonstrate excellent skills in clinical practice and organisational ability, together with superb communication and interpersonal skill.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of a maximum of twelve months due to maternity leave of the substantive post holder. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts and statutory maternity provisions.

Please also note any secondment must first be agreed with your current line manager.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria

1. HCPC / NMC registered
2. To have completed the national practice assessor training or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.
3. Continuous professional development
4. First degree or evidence of working towards one (demonstrating graduate attributes) working at that level

Desirable criteria

5. Post registration specialist course

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria

6. Evidence of relevant post basic training and continuous professional development
7. Ability to communicate effectively including active listening, writing, and verbally, with individuals on a one-to-one basis, with groups, and the Multidisciplinary Team

Experience

Essential criteria

8. Extensive post registration experience in a large operating theatre environment in the NHS.
9. Relevant experience at AFC Band 5
10. Ability to lead, motivate and develop a professional team
11. Specialist training relevant to working in a theatre environment
