Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 + Package (DOE)
An established and highly respected construction contractor is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join its growing commercial team.
Operating across the South of England, our client delivers an exceptional portfolio of bespoke residential, heritage, refurbishment and new-build projects for private clients, estates, architects and professional teams. Projects range from prestigious listed building restorations and country estate refurbishments through to high-end contemporary homes and specialist construction works.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor looking to take ownership of projects while further developing their career within a business renowned for quality, craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Quantity Surveyor The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the commercial management of projects from pre-construction through to final account.
The successful Quantity Surveyor will work closely with site teams, clients, subcontractors and consultants to ensure projects are delivered profitably whilst maintaining excellent commercial and contractual control.
Quantity Surveyor Key Responsibilities
* Managing the commercial aspects of construction projects from inception to completion
* Procurement and management of subcontractors and suppliers
* Preparing and issuing subcontract packages and agreements
* Managing project costs, budgets and forecasts
* Preparing valuations and applications for payment
* Managing variations, change control and additional works
* Producing monthly cost reports and financial forecasts
* Negotiating subcontractor accounts and final accounts
* Identifying and mitigating commercial risks
* Maintaining strong client, consultant and supply chain relationships
* Supporting project teams with commercial guidance and advice
* Ensuring projects achieve commercial targets and profitability
Quantity Surveyor Requirements
* Degree or HNC qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline
* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a construction environment
* Strong commercial and contractual awareness
* Experience within residential, heritage, refurbishment, fit-out or main contracting sectors would be advantageous
* Working knowledge of JCT contracts
* Strong negotiation and communication skills
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively within project teams
* Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem solving
