Process Design Engineer - Water

The Vacancy
We are looking for a Process Design Engineer to join a specialist design team supporting water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the development of effective, compliant, and sustainable treatment solutions across a range of technical projects.
You will be involved in the planning, development, and delivery of process designs, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure solutions meet regulatory, operational, and client requirements. The role includes producing and supporting key process documentation such as process flow diagrams, mass balances, P&IDs, and process control philosophies.
You will play an active role in design optimisation, project reviews, and HAZOP studies, helping to ensure treatment solutions are safe, efficient, and reliable throughout their lifecycle.
Please note: This role requires attendance in the office or on site at least three days per week.

What We're Looking For
We're seeking a practical and detail‑focused engineer with strong analytical capability and a genuine interest in water and wastewater treatment design. You'll be comfortable contributing to technical discussions, working as part of a multidisciplinary team, and taking a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
Experience
3-5 years' experience in process engineering
Experience within the water or wastewater sector preferred
Exposure to treatment plants or process‑driven infrastructure
Understanding of water quality standards and environmental regulations
Knowledge & Skills
Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
Practical, solution‑focused approach to engineering challenges
Clear and confident communicator
Well organised, with strong attention to detail
Ability to manage tasks independently while working collaboratively
Good understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes and technologies
Familiarity with relevant industry and regulatory standards
Essential Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline
