University Church of St Mary the Virgin, Oxford
Part-time, 20 hours per week
The University Church of St Mary the Virgin is seeking a highly organised and personable Bookings Officer to join our busy Events and Operations team. Standing at the heart of Oxford, the Church welcomes over half a million visitors a year and provides one of the city’s most iconic venues for concerts, lectures, award ceremonies, hospitality events, and community activities. As Bookings Officer, you will play a key role in managing an extensive programme of venue hire across the Church, the Clore Old Library, and the Old Congregation House.
We are looking for someone who is an efficient administrator with excellent communication skills, a strong eye for detail, and the confidence to liaise with a wide range of clients—from University departments and colleges to arts organisations and event partners. You will handle enquiries, provide quotations, manage bookings from initial contact through to invoicing, and work closely with the Operations Manager and Events team to ensure a high-quality customer experience.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, calm under pressure, skilled at juggling multiple deadlines, and comfortable working in a Christian environment in sympathy with the ethos of the Church of England. Experience in customer service, sales, or events administration is highly desirable.
Applications close at 12 noon on Thursday 8 January 2026.
Interviews will be held on Friday 16 January 2026.
