Job Description
Do you want to make a lasting positive change to the environment? As a Technical author in the UK BAT team you can. Large Slaughterhouses and Animal By-products installations are required to use ‘Best Available Techniques’ (BAT) to reduce emissions to air, water and land. We’ve established a process for the definition of BAT within the UK. The regime will use the BAT concept principles of a transparent, collaborative, data and evidence led process that safeguards and builds on the current high levels of environmental protection. Central to this process will be the UK BAT Author.
Key Responsibilities
* Draft BAT Conclusions.
* Liaise with Technical Working Groups.
* Present a final document suitable for publication as a new, UK-wide, environmental standard for industry.
* Critically analyse technical arguments and data.
* Write technical documents.
* Manage projects and drive completion.
* Support inclusive incident management objectives and training.
* Travel and overnight stays may be required.
Qualifications and Experience
* At least 5 years working experience in environmental regulation and the SA industry.
* Specialist knowledge of the slaughterhouse and animal by-products industry.
* Good understanding of process engineering and environmental issues.
* Strong grasp of UK and EU industrial environmental legislation, including the IED and the Environmental Permitting Regulations.
* Capability in collection and technical analysis of complex industrial data.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Experience building and maintaining relationships.
* Planning, prioritising and organising tasks to achieve timely results.
* Adaptability to challenges and building consensus.
* Cultural awareness and commitment to diversity.
Employment Details
* Salary: £45,245 – £51,785 (UK)
* Location: Pickering, England, United Kingdom
* Contract up to 2 years from appointment.
* Full-time, Mid-senior level.
