Our Exmouth Response Maintenance Business is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join its small, friendly commercial team on a 6-month Fixed-term contract.
We’d love to hear from you if you are a Quantity Surveyor who is keen to take full commercial accountability for delivering our planned and larger projects, on budget and to the specified margins.
The contract with our social housing client in East Devon is unique; we deliver all our services directly to the client. That’s Response/Voids, Planned Maintenance, and Compliance works for 4,000 properties in and around Exmouth, with a total contract value worth £13m per year.
It’s a fast-paced, collaborative environment, offering exposure to a wide-ranging workload with lots of client contact.

The Quantity Surveyor role:
You will actively support the Managing Surveyor with commercial and technical reporting, impacting the unit’s profitability and success.
Specific tasks include:
* Taking commercial accountability for reactive maintenance works, ensuring profit performance
* Analyzing and reviewing all payments/costs with SORs to source cost-effective solutions while maintaining client relationships and value for money
* Preparing valuations and managing work in progress to monitor contract performance and steer commercial outcomes
* Managing financial and technical aspects, including procurement, invoicing, and payments, to minimize costs and maximize value and cash flow
* Developing positive relationships with operational colleagues, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
What will you bring as a Quantity Surveyor?
* Proven ability to minimize costs and maximize value, profit, and cash flow, preferably within social housing or maintenance contracting environments
* Strong data analysis skills using IT systems and Excel, with a thorough, detailed, and accurate approach
* Experience with direct labour and subcontract procurement
* Experience with Schedule of Rates contracts and pricing minor works from first principles is desirable
