Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to support the Hospital Liaison Psychiatry Service and Care Home Liaison Service in Swindon for a period of 6 months starting from May 2026. The post holder will support the old age psychiatry hospital liaison service and Care Home Liaison Service in Swindon.
Responsibilities
* Assessment and management of in‑patients with complex health care needs, including comorbid physical and psychiatric illness within Great Western Hospital, Swindon.
* Assume Responsible Clinician (RC) status for inpatients within Great Western Hospital, Swindon, subject to the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007).
* Participate in Mental Health Act assessments in both the Emergency Department and patients admitted to wards in the hospital.
* Provide rapid assessment and treatment when required for patients presenting at the ED.
* Work with multidisciplinary teams (MDT) of both services and receive support from a Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist for portfolio pathway application guidance.
