The role is based in the R&D Oral Health Platform Process Engineering team, supporting new product development for OH products.
The role will be accountable for process development, scale-up, and technology transfer aligned to the OH pipeline. The role involves collaborative working with various teams and functions (R&D, Quality, Supply Chain) across the business to to deliver robust commercial scale manufacturing processes for new product launches.
Key aspects of the role include:
1. Develop understanding of products in terms of formulation and processing
2. Develop scale up understanding and product/process characterisation
3. Plan and implement process development experiments at laboratory and / or pilot plant (1/10th) scale, using agreed Operational Excellence/Quality by Design tools such as DoE and reporting the results.
4. Support innovation / NPD projects process development and scale up requirements
5. Supervise manufacturing campaigns to the required cGMP and Health & Safety standards to support project activities (e.g. process development, validation, pivotal stability, clinical, etc.)
6. Create documents including Experimental Plans/Reports, MMI (Master Manufacturing Instruction), Change Controls, Technical Rationales, Investigation Reports
7. Support Technical Risk Assessments (TRA, MRA) and Product Strategy Control (PCS) related to new products / processes.
8. Develop strong, collaborative relationships with other departments/functions and support knowledge sharing
The role may also involve pioneering new technology or processing routes as continuous improvement to existing commercial products and engaging closely with Supply Chain Technical team to support overall manufacturing strategy and continuity.
The role may also include travel to various locations both R&D pilot facilities and Supply Chain Manufacturing sites for trials.
