We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and dedicated Year 6 Teacher to join a welcoming primary school in Derby, starting as soon as possible. The Role
As a Year 6 Teacher, you will plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons across all curriculum areas, with a focus on English, mathematics, and science. You will track pupil progress, identify gaps in learning, and provide targeted interventions. Encouraging resilience, independence, and positive learning behaviours will be central to your classroom practice.
You will work closely with teaching assistants, Key Stage 2 colleagues, and senior leaders to maintain high standards across the phase. Strong communication with parents and carers is essential to support pupils’ academic and personal development.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons across the Year 6 curriculum
* Monitor pupil progress and use assessment to inform planning
* Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEND and EAL learners
* Maintain a structured, inclusive, and positive classroom environment
* Promote independence, resilience, and positive behaviour
* Collaborate with teaching assistants and KS2 colleagues
* Communicate effectively with parents and carers
* Participate in staff meetings, CPD, and school improvement initiatives
Who We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will:
* Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Have experience teaching Key Stage 2, ideally Year 6
* Be confident delivering the national curriculum and assessment strategies
* Demonstrate excellent classroom management and organisational skills
* Be reflective, proactive, and adaptable
* Show a strong commitment to inclusion and safeguarding
* Work effectively as part of a collaborative team
Early Career Teachers are welcome and will receive mentoring and guidance.
