Job Summary
Do you love working in a team? This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a first‑class multidisciplinary team providing interventional diagnostics and therapy at the North West Cardiac Catheter Sector Laboratory. The Cardiac Catheter Lab (CCL) is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm. Shift patterns include early shifts (7:30 am to 3:30 pm) and late shifts (10:30 am to 6:30 pm). CCL is closed on weekends and bank holidays.
PLEASE NOTE: You are required to have an NVQ Level 2 Certificate in Health and Social Care or the Care Certificate to be eligible to apply for this role. You will be required to provide evidence of these qualifications.

Main duties of the job
The CCL is a state‑of‑the‑art cardiac facility with two theatres and a six‑bedded recovery area. It cares for patients undergoing cardiac interventions in a day‑case setting. Following the procedure and recovery period, patients are discharged via the CCL's bespoke discharge suite. As a new Senior Health Care Assistant, you will receive the highest standards of training to provide care to both acute and elective patients, making this a unique and varied role.
Once trained, you will assist the nursing staff with an extensive range of interventional cardiac procedures including diagnostic angiograms, coronary intervention, device implantation, cardioversion and cardiology diagnostics.

Job Responsibilities
* Assist patients with washing, dressing, personal care, beverages and/or meals.
* Assist qualified nursing and medical staff where requested.
* Communicate with all members of the team to maintain good service provision.
* Ensure that all patients can meet their hygiene needs, providing an appropriate level of assistance.
* Prepare and support the patient appropriately during any activity undertaken.
* Alert the registered nurse where you notice any changes in the patient's health and well‑being or potential risks.
* Undertake observations/tasks such as patient temperature, weighing, and fluid checks as directed.
* Ensure effective use of material resources/supplies within the ward/unit in consultation with senior staff.
* Assist with general cleaning and restocking of resources where appropriate, and with cleaning and preparing patients' beds.
* Contribute to your own personal development and take an active part in learning opportunities.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
* GCSE English Language and Maths A to C or 4‑9 or functional skills or equivalent.
* NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, or willing to undertake an apprenticeship in Senior Health Care Support Worker.
* Care Certificate.
* Effective level of numeracy and literacy skills.
