Job Purpose

The SC Finance Manager will act as a reliable business partner for Logistics, local Supply Chain and category Finance teams to execute the Supply Chain Finance operational and strategic plan for Southern Africa to enable the business to win and grow.


What will your main responsibilities be

* Steer Business Performance and provide Decision support to key stakeholders including the FLT (Finance Leadership Team) and DLT (Distribution Leadership Team).
* Drive a cost competitive Supply Chain organisation through delivery of savings, net productivity across Supply chain Indirects and Logistics costs.
* Drive strong Governance and Controls within the Supply Chain Finance environment ensuring there are no control gaps to prevent loss and protect assets.
* Manage capex process across all Sourcing Units.
* Drive down business waste at the Sourcing Units.
* Lead a diverse team of 3 staff and develop succession planning and career progression for the team.


Steer Business Performance and Decision Support

* Provide accurate and relevant business insights by analysing available information using designated best practice tools.
* Coordinate the forecasting process to help the business make reliable decisions, including budget and financial forecasts.
* Support Trade Working Capital delivery through analysis tools (e.g., loss tree analysis).
* Drive optimal return on investments by evaluating Capital Expenditure Proposals with Business Cases that meet benchmarks.
* Guide and support delivery of key projects while maximising government incentives where applicable.
* Report on monthly variances with insights and actions to ensure mitigations where relevant.
* Drive accountability for impact and outcomes.


Drive a cost competitive Supply Chain

* Reduce controllable costs by lowering Cost Per Ton (Net Productivity).
* Deliver the business waste reduction programme and mitigations.
* Review, challenge and monitor all Capital Expenditure proposals per the annual budget.
* Align benchmark costs and efficiencies across Logistics, SCI and Waste costs.


Governance and Controls

* Ensure adequate controls and financial hygiene in all areas of Supply Chain, including audits (5+ per year).
* Maintain integrity of the balance sheet and income statement with checks and balances.
* Deliver timely and accurate reporting; ensure Unilever Standard Chart of Accounts compliance.
* Ensure stock controls compliant with SOX; manage journals, write-offs and provisions per Schedule of Authority.


Stock Management

* Ensure annual budgets and standard product costing align with global guidelines.
* Drive the forecast process in line with S&OP principles.
* Perform weekly/monthly variance analysis of budget vs actuals.
* Manage stock provisions in various locations and third-party sites; stock and working capital reporting.


Leadership

* Lead a diverse team of direct reports; responsible for growth and development of all staff.
* Develop succession planning and career progression for the team.


Experiences & Qualifications

Qualifications: Professional qualification in accountancy – CA or CIMA.

* Min 7 years experience in Management and/or Financial accounting.
* Ability to steer conversations and influence; leadership skills to lead, motivate and inspire.
* Previous experience in SAP (3 years).
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel; previous SOX experience is an advantage.
* Proven track record in a complex operating environment; strong communication and influencing skills.
* Objectivity, integrity, resilience; ability to manage multiple senior stakeholders.
* Understanding of financial principles in end-to-end Supply Chain and value-creating decisions.
* Leadership of change and staying current with best practices.
