Watton Methodist Church is seeking a Centre Manager to oversee daily operations at our community centre in Watton, Norfolk. The successful candidate will be based in Watton withhours divided between responding to emails/phone calls at home and attending office as necessary for routine administration/filing, and oversight of premises.
We are seeking to appoint a reliable individual to provide essential administrative, routine maintenance, and caretaking support for the effective operation of the Centre.
This is a flexible role, with hours worked as needed, to promote the use of the centre by a variety of groups that benefit the local community.
Previous knowledge or experience is an advantage but not essential, as a willingness to learn and innovate is more important.
The successful applicant will require a satisfactory Enhanced DBS disclosure and successful completion of safer recruitment checks, and the Safeguarding Foundation course.
Responsibilities:
The Centre Manager will:
· survey the Centre premises regularly to identify any hazards, defects or items requiring maintenance
· book in repairs as needed
· book in and over-see all regular safety checks and ensure that maintenance work is done properly
· hold keys for the Centre, and manage the key-holder lists
· act as line manager for the Centre cleaner
· manage holiday cover for the cleaner
· order bathroom and kitchen supplies as needed and allocate
· report to the regular Property and Finance meetings
· liaise with the Treasurer to gain authorisation for necessary spending and to arrange payment of any bills
· receive any cash or cheque payments for hire of Centre and pass to the Treasurer, keeping accurate records
· respond promptly to booking enquiries, keeping the booking calendar and diary
· ensure that bookings fall within the guidelines set by the Managing Trustees
· manage any bookings that require extra help
· send invoices to hirers promptly and check with the Treasurer that payment is received
· deal with any building emergencies – e.g. flooding or heating failure
· promote the use of the premises for the benefit of the Watton community
· use social media to promote and advertise Centre events
· undertake Foundation Level Safeguarding training and apply safeguarding principles to all groups and hirings
work in accordance with the Christian aims of the centre, to be a safe place for all.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: £14.00 per hour
Expected hours: 6.5 per week
