We want to be the water company people want to be supplied by and want to work for.
You’ll take up this crucial role in our Asset Management team, managing an Asset Planning portfolio and reviewing gaps in asset performance against current asset management policy and strategies. You will use your significant experience in asset management to provide technical advice to manage and oversee accountability for the delivery of the agreed benefits identified at approval. This includes sign-off of the benefits realisation and incorporating lessons learned into the planning process.
You understand that good asset management aims to achieve the least cost and least risk of owning and operating our assets over their life cycle, whilst meeting service standards for our customers. This is an excellent opportunity to use your self-driven, agile and collaborative approach to lead a team of planners to manage asset risks, ensure regulatory compliance and deliver the business needs.
You’ll be responsible for an asset planning portfolio to keep our below ground assets performing at optimal levels. You’ll identify gaps in asset performance against defined policy and strategy, build cases for investment and help define the right interventions for the business. Taking a risk-based approach, you’ll prioritise investment and develop costed programmes of work that deliver specific and measurable outcomes.
You have a robust understanding of asset policies, enabling you to play an active role in creating compliance monitoring activities in line with these. You also appreciate industry related service commitments that influence our asset management strategies i.e. mains repairs, low pressures, water quality, interruptions, water outage and customer satisfaction metrics. What will you mainly be responsible for delivering?
5. Manage the portfolio of infrastructure assets needs for the business (below ground assets).
6. Able to respond to changing business conditions and needs. This means re‐prioritising investment decisions using our asset planning optimisation tool to ensure strategy is targeted, effective and budgets are met.
7. Work with key stakeholders to upload asset needs into our optimisation tool and develop into project briefs for others to deliver. Needs should be appropriately considered to achieve lowest whole life cost for the business.
8. To work with the other Asset Management teams to assess where gaps occur between published policies and strategies and current asset performance before raising these as investment needs.
9. To work closely with Operations, and other functional areas to define critical operational interventions and maintenance requirements that maximise asset performance and asset life, whilst also balancing operational efficiency.
10. Able to trade off different risks and priorities in overarching business plans.
11. Liaise regularly with cross business functions to ensure plans aligns with wider objectives and develop ‘buy-in’.

13. Incorporate lessons learned into asset planning process by reviewing the plans success at achieving its aims.
What do you bring to the role?
14. Holding an IAM Certificate (or equivalent experience) is crucial.
15. Substantial asset management experience/knowledge.
16. Experience in asset management decision-making and knowledge of an AM decision support tool.
17. Some knowledge of key regulatory and legislation applicable to water industry assets is desirable.
18. Good communication and persuasion skills.
19. Confident and professional presenting to key stakeholders up to senior management level.
20. Able to work from Snodland head office with some occasional site visits.
21. Strong IT skills
22. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
23. Have a full clean driving licence
