Enterprise Analyst – Norwich City Council
We're looking for three Enterprise Analysts to join our senior infrastructure team to lead and collaborate on projects, solve complex issues and support the wider IT service. If you thrive on challenge, independence and making a real impact, this is your next role.
Base pay range
Competitive pay and benefits package, including the Living Wage accreditation. Holiday entitlement starts at 26 days per annum and builds up to 33 days. Local Government Pension Scheme participation and occupational health support are also offered.
Key corporate accountabilities
* Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver Corporate and Service plans.
* Deliver IT support across the Council, encouraging knowledge sharing beyond traditional service boundaries.
* Contribute to the development of Council’s IT strategies and policies to achieve strategic aims.
* Promote continuous improvement and good governance on cross‑cutting corporate issues/projects.
* Foster an inclusive, innovative and high‑performance culture.
Key service‑related accountabilities
* Support business‑as‑usual priorities set by the Enterprise Systems Lead in line with IT procedures.
* Provide system support for servers, databases and storage, ensuring incidents and requests are logged, prioritised and resolved efficiently.
* Install, configure and administer enterprise systems using on‑premise and cloud technologies.
* Manage and resolve faults, liaise with 3rd‑party vendors and meet SLA requirements.
* Respond to service requests, test changes and document change plans.
* Perform maintenance tasks as scheduled.
* Advise on risks, suggest improvements and support IT system performance and security.
* Analyse incident trends, investigate reoccurring issues and document preventive resolutions.
* Ensure business continuity readiness and test recovery systems.
* Provide management information, statistics and documentation for technical work.
* Identify and mitigate risks, escalating when necessary.
* Act as out‑of‑hours contact on a standby rota.
* Schedule, monitor and restore system backups, maintaining a defect‑free backup asset library.
Key responsibilities
* Monitor and maintain council core infrastructure and deploy software updates and patches.
* Manage backup processes and ensure FTP services are available.
* Lead infrastructure projects and detailed documentation of implementation.
* Investigate complex technical issues independently, using research and problem‑solving skills.
* Deliver clear, empathetic, professional support to internal customers.
* Maintain accurate records in the fault and service request system.
* Occasionally support out‑of‑hours critical operations.
* Maintain Unix/Oracle systems alongside critical databases.
Skills required – essential technologies & skills
* Strong experience with VMware technologies (vCenter, ESXi, NSX, VCF).
* Experience managing Office 365 suite including Exchange Online, SharePoint and Teams.
* Experience with Windows Server environments.
* Ability to write clear, concise documentation.
* Knowledge of backup management and disaster recovery practices.
* Experience remediating vulnerabilities and liaising with vendors.
* Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
* Desire to learn new technologies.
Educational requirements & what we’re looking for
* Proven experience in 2nd‑Line IT support and ambition to progress to 3rd‑Line.
* Capability to research and resolve issues independently.
* Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication.
* Patience, empathy and professionalism in customer interactions.
* Formal training or equivalent experience in the listed technologies.
