Social Worker - Newcastle Pre-Birth Team
Location: Newcastle, United Kingdom
Newcastle's Pre-Birth Team is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Social Worker to join their dynamic team. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of families in their community, particularly during the crucial pre-birth period. As a Social Worker with the team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting expectant parents, promoting child welfare, and ensuring the best possible outcomes for families
Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive assessments of expectant parents to identify potential risks and protective factors. Develop and implement effective intervention plans to address identified needs and ensure the safety and well-being of the unborn child
Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams, including health professionals, community resources, and partner agencies. Maintain open and effective communication with relevant stakeholders to facilitate coordinated support for families
Provide emotional support and practical guidance to expectant parents facing challenging circumstances. Assist in developing coping strategies and accessing appropriate services to enhance parenting skills and family resilience
Advocate for the rights and needs of expectant parents within the legal and ethical framework. Collaborate with legal services, when necessary, to ensure the protection of parental and child rights
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, interventions, and case progress. Ensure compliance with data protection and confidentiality policies
Requirements
Qualified Social Worker with a recognised social work qualification
Proven experience in child protection, family support, or related social work roles
Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to child welfare and safeguarding
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse individuals and groups
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
Commitment to continuous professional development and a passion for promoting positive outcomes for families
