 
        
        Specialty Doctor – Pain Management
We are seeking a Specialty Doctor in Pain Management to join our team at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust.
We would welcome applications from GPs or other Doctors with a special interest in Pain Management. Patient safety, dignity and care are the highest priority and at the centre of all that we do.
Responsibilities and Duties
 * Provide high quality Pain Medicine to patients, including clinical leadership and supervision of junior medical staff, ensuring the highest standards of clinical care are delivered at the hospital.
 * Maintain own lists of patients seen as new patients and follow up and treat as appropriate; if a particular treatment is not available, liaise with the consultant team to learn the new technique or transfer responsibility for care.
 * Take over the care of existing patients in the pain service.
 * Improve efficiency and ensure delivery of patient care based on KPIs for our current commissioned activity.
 * Collaborate with clinicians and managers within and outside the department to address any issues that may affect services.
 * Maintain relationships and supervision, and collaborate where appropriate with other teams across the Integrated Care Board involved in provision of Chronic Pain (e.g., Primary Care Practitioners, pharmacists, rehabilitation teams).
 * Participate in relevant audit and quality assurance processes.
 * Communicate with local GPs.
Working Schedule
Weekly timetable: Monday to Friday working across the Torbay and South Devon locality. Additional PAs may be available to reflect extended working day and weekend working.
Direct Clinical Care (DCC): 4 PAs per week.
Supporting Professional Activities (SPAs): 1 PA per week.
On‑Call Activity: currently no on‑call commitment.

TSDFT has 396 inpatient beds, 154 day‑case beds and 42 children’s beds. There are around 1,180 outpatient clinics and 60 community clinics held each week. The trust operates a high dependency and intensive care unit, runs 10 operating theatres, and has 34 medical and surgical inpatient wards.
