The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist within Psychology Services in NHS Lanarkshire on a 12-month fixed-term basis. We have scope for a 1.0 WTE Band 8A post.
0.7 WTE of the post is within our motivated and innovative psychology service delivering a clinical service within HMP Shotts. The successful applicant will support the service lead in the delivery and governance of a high-quality psychology service within HMP Shotts. They will work alongside psychology colleagues as part of a multidisciplinary team providing assessment, care, and treatment to individuals currently in prison. The post holder will undertake assessment, formulation, provide psychological therapies, and offer indirect interventions where appropriate. They will also promote psychologically informed approaches, provide teaching/training, supervision, and consultation to other professionals, and be involved in quality improvement and research.
0.3 WTE of the post will be to provide input to the acute psychiatric inpatient wards in University Hospital Wishaw, offering both direct and indirect psychological work for a range of presentations. There will be opportunities for staff training, consultancy, and service development.
The post holder will be line managed by the Consultant Clinical Psychologist within the respective services, with regular supervision and access to CPD. Please note the attached job descriptions are generic.

What you'll need
Postgraduate Doctoral level (or equivalent) degree in Clinical or Counselling Psychology, registered with the HCPC. Additional relevant training, supervision experience, knowledge of policies, and a full UK/EU/EEA driving license are required.
Additional desirable skills
Training in personality assessment/therapy, experience with complex populations, supervision experience, neuropsychological knowledge, and forensic mental health expertise.
Contract details
Fixed term or secondment for 12 months, full-time (37 hours), working Mon-Fri, 9:00-17:00.
Location and work pattern
Based in HMP Shotts and University Hospital Wishaw. Applicants may be considered for similar roles elsewhere.
