An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior BioResource Coordinator to join the BioResource project team, and to work both within the NIHR Clinical Research Facility and throughout Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (GOSH). Part of your role in locally managing and coordinating this national project, will be multidisciplinary and collaborative working, screening, recruitment, and informed consent across a multitude of clinics across GOSH, research governance, reporting and presentations, involvement in staff, public, and patient engagement events to raise awareness of the project. Part of this role will be acting as a project representative for GOSH at various meetings locally and on the national NIHR BioResource Operational Steering Committee.
The NIHR BioResource is a recallable resource of >200,000 volunteers from the general population, and patients with rare and common diseases. Participants provide information about their health and lifestyle, together with biological samples, including DNA, and consent for access to their health records and to be contacted about clinical research studies according to their phenotype or genotype.
Main duties of the job
As as a Senior BioResource Coordinator, you will coordinate the management of the NIHR BioResource at GOSH to ensure it operates effectively to meet targets set by the national NIHR BioResource. You will be the first point of contact at GOSH for all NIHR BioResource related communications, queries and activities, coordinating response to ensure accurate information relating to best practice and current guidance/legislation is disseminated. You will also proactively support the development of communications and patient and public involvement and engagement events to raise awareness of the BioResource and the research opportunities it offers for staff, patients, and families.
You will represent the GOSH BioResource on the national NIHR BioResource Operational Steering Committee, and at other internal or external meetings as required.
