Our client Scottish Power Renewables is seeking a GIS Specialist for an initial 12-month contract. The position can be based in Glasgow or London with a hybrid working arrangement.
Main Purpose of the Job
The GIS Service primarily supports the EA TWO project team with onshore GIS services. Responsibilities include developing customized GIS tools, mapping, geospatial analysis, CAD data translation, and advising stakeholders on geospatial data use.
Key Responsibilities
1. Create interface drawings and visualizations based on instructions, focusing on offshore wind farm export cable terrestrial interfaces.
2. Translate and manipulate offshore and onshore datasets, execute complex queries, and maintain GIS databases.
3. Provide GIS drafting and cartographic services.
4. Design and develop programming solutions to improve GIS systems, including documentation and testing.
5. Conduct complex GIS analyses and data processing to meet quality standards.
6. Manage geospatial data using GIS and CAD, providing high-quality drafting services.
7. Develop methodologies for advanced geospatial analysis.
8. Create tools for diverse user groups to enhance productivity.
9. Maintain software and systems for robustness and usability.
10. Create and maintain geospatial data and metadata.
11. Upload data to statutory websites.
12. Support data requests from internal and external clients.
13. Consult with clients to understand requirements and meet deadlines.
14. Contribute to developing GIS best practices within the business.
15. Provide documentation and training for custom tools.
Additional Tasks
* Develop GIS web enterprise applications for land access and stakeholder engagement.
* Manage geospatial data from consultants and contractors.
* Report on onshore construction progress.
* Manage spatial and survey data, including LIDAR and orthophotos.
* Analyze survey data for cable burial validation and earthwork assessment.
* Handle raster and vector data.
* Create manual GIS data.
* Implement metadata standards.
Key Criteria
Essential
* Degree in a relevant technical discipline or equivalent experience.
* Experience in linear construction projects (e.g., highways, rail, interconnectors).
* Advanced GIS skills with ESRI tools.
* Strong cartographic and map production skills.
* Teamwork and client-facing skills.
Desirable
* Experience in offshore wind farm projects.
* Proficiency in Python.
* Experience with ESRI enterprise server deployment.
