We have an amazing opportunity for a Support worker/PA to support an independent lifestyle for a young man. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills while delivering 1:1 support to an individual in his own home near Chester.
About our Client:
Our client suffered a brain injury at birth; he is very friendly, personable and largely independent. He currently lives in a 5-bedroom detached property near Chester with his dog and collection of exotic pets including snakes, bearded dragons, a gecko, frogs, lizards and multiple large fish. You must be willing to support the client to feed and care for his pets and perhaps walk his dog (a Patterdale terrier)
What you'll be working:
* Support worker/PA
* Part time hours- Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursday and Fridays, hours 10:00- 16:00
* Location: Client’s home and in the community near Chester
Salary: £12:74 per hour Monday Friday, £13:30 per hour Saturday/Sunday
You will be employed by Northern Case Management on behalf of the client

What you'll be doing:
Some of the key roles and responsibilities:
* Promote, monitor and maintain health, safety and security.
* Promote effective communication and relationships.
* Contributes to the protection of individuals from abuse.
* Enable and encourage the client to participate in recreation and leisure activities.
* To establish and maintain a trusting, therapeutic, working relationship with the Client
* To be responsible for the client’s personal welfare
* To supervise activities in line with the support plan guidelines
* To contribute and support the client to complete household duties including, budgeting, meal planning, cooking, cleaning, shopping, washing, ironing, light gardening.
* To support the client to care for his pets and to report any welfare concerns to the Care Manager
* To attend medical appointment with the client if required
* To Support the Client to attend social or other activities
* To attend regular supervision with the Case Manager at intervals communicated to you by the Case Manager.
* To complete daily records as advised including time sheets, mileage records, care plan summaries and critical incidents, petty cash records.
* You will also support the client to complete household tasks, cleaning, laundry and cooking if required and help him maintain his garden.
What you'll have:
Essential:
* Newly appointed care/support workers who do not already hold a relevant care qualification are required to register for NVQ level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care within the first 6 months of employment and complete the full award within 3 years.
* Previous experience of care in the community
* Experience of working with clients with brain injury
* Happy to tolerate animals including snakes, lizards, Iguanas, fish and a dog in the home
* Must be willing to drive on motorways
* Must be willing to drive and automatic Ford Ranger
* Confident driver and willing to support the client care for his exotic pets.
Desirable:
* NVQ Level 2/3
* Care Certificate
* Knowledge of the physical & cognitive effects of brain injury
* To have supported clients with brain injury
* To have supported clients in their own homes
