We are seeking a talented, highly motivated individual to join BloombergNEF's Transition Risk and Alignment research team as a Data Lead, based in London. You will contribute to our quantitative models that support BNEF's analysis of company-level exposure to the energy transition. This role is a 6-month fixed-term contract and is ideal for someone with experience in data science, quantitative analysis, or related fields, with a passion for climate and the transition to a low-carbon economy.

What's the role?
Despite headwinds, the low-carbon transition has maintained momentum. Companies and consumers delivered significant investments in energy transition. Financial institutions play a key role, but identifying exposure of portfolios to the transition remains a challenge. As part of the team, you'll build and operate quantitative models that track company exposure to the energy transition, gaining experience at the nexus of net-zero transition, financial reporting, and corporate sustainability.
Responsibilities include:
* Demonstrate excellent quantitative and communication skills, work with data effectively.
* Support maintenance and development of data tools and scripts analyzing company exposure to the energy transition based on revenues and capital expenditures.
* Conduct data analysis using the Bloomberg Terminal.
* Communicate research findings via dashboards, reports, news stories, datasets, and client interactions.
* Manage multiple tasks with high organization and attention to detail.
* Collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients from diverse backgrounds.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's or Master's in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
* Proficiency in Python and SQL.
* Strong quantitative skills and experience working with large datasets and complex models.
* 1-2 years of internship or work experience in energy, commodities, or finance industries.
* Excellent English communication skills.
* High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Preferred:
* Understanding of energy and financial markets and the low-carbon transition.
* Experience with Bloomberg Terminal tools (bdh, bdp, bql, bsrch).
* Experience with data visualization tools like PowerBI.
