Deputy Headteacher - Alternative Provision (SEMH)
Location: Northampton, NN1
Salary: 40,000-50,000 per annum
Contract: Full-time, Permanent, 8:30am-17:00pm
Start Date: September 2026
About the Role
We are seeking a committed, resilient, and inspirational Deputy Headteacher to join our alternative provision in Northampton, supporting students in Key Stages 3 and 4 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This is a pivotal leadership role for someone passionate about transforming the lives of young people who have experienced barriers to mainstream education. You will work closely with the Headteacher to shape the strategic direction of the provision, drive high standards, and ensure every student receives the support they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities
* Support the Headteacher in the day-to-day leadership and management of the provision
* Lead on behaviour, inclusion, and safeguarding across KS3-KS4
* Drive high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment
* Line manage teaching and support staff, providing coaching and professional development
* Develop and implement strategies to support students with SEMH needs
* Build strong partnerships with families, external agencies, and local authorities
* Contribute to strategic planning, self-evaluation, and school improvement
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and significant leadership experience
* Proven experience working with students with SEMH and/or in alternative provision
* Strong behaviour management and trauma-informed practice
* A passion for inclusive education and improving outcomes for vulnerable learners
* The ability to lead, motivate, and inspire staff and students
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
