Desk Motor Engineer Team Leader : We have a fantastic opportunity in our Motor Engineering team as a Team Leader for our desk engineers. As a Team Leader you will be responsible for all aspects of customer service and indemnity spend within your team. You will also be responsible for the monitoring of your team using department measures data to improve performance. Also ensuring that company processes and compliance are adhered to.
As a Team Leader you will carry out annual and half-yearly performance reviews, be responsible for developing your team, and for ensuring that suitable development plans are in place. As a Team Leader you will monitor adherence to the complaints process and carry out root cause analysis with a view to improving customer journey. You will also represent your team, the department and/or their operations leader on new initiatives, projects & process changes where required.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Lead by Example: Motivate, coach, and develop a high-performing team of motor engineers, conducting regular performance reviews and identifying training needs
2. Technical Expertise & Compliance: Provide hands-on support to ensure repair methods are followed and claims costs are controlled, while maintaining adherence to FCA, TCF, GDPR, and other regulatory standards.
3. Performance Management: Drive data-led development conversations, maintain accurate staff records, and carry out monthly quality audits to meet operational and regulatory requirements.
4. Fraud Prevention: Ensure fraud is identified and investigated using all available techniques, protecting the integrity of claims handling.
5. Process & Cost Efficiency: Identify and embed improvements that enhance customer outcomes, streamline operations, and reduce indemnity spend.
6. Operational Oversight: Manage team workload effectively, prioritise tasks for maximum cost control, and communicate successes and challenges to the Ops Leader.
Skills and experience:
7. Leadership & Coaching: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams in line with the Ageas Leaders framework, including performance reviews and coaching
8. Technical & Industry Expertise: Extensive knowledge of motor vehicles, repair techniques, estimating, and field engineering, with IAEA membership and AQP accreditation
9. Customer & Complaint Handling: Skilled in managing complex complaints, communicating with tact and diplomacy, and resolving engineering disputes effect
10. Communication & Collaboration: Strong verbal and written skills, able to explain technical procedures clearly and work effectively with suppliers, customers, and internal teams
11. Commercial & Analytical Acumen: Commercially aware with the ability to interpret data, identify fraud, and use insights to build team capability and control costs.
12. Organisation & Resilience: Highly organised, adaptable to change, and resilient under pressure, with strong prioritisation and problem-solving skills.
