Job Description
About the role
We are looking for a solicitor to join our well-established Agriculture and Landed Estates team, working closely with senior fee earners while developing their own varied and rewarding caseload.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in rural property law, with early responsibility, genuine client contact and strong support from day one.
You will be part of a collaborative and highly regarded team, advising a diverse rural client base and gaining exposure to high-quality work across the agricultural and landed estates sector. A regular presence in our Stratford-upon-Avon office is required, reflecting the collaborative nature of the team and the importance of learning, development and client contact.
About the Agriculture team
Our Agriculture and Landed Estates team advises on the full spectrum of legal work for agricultural, rural and landed estate clients, with a strong focus on non-contentious matters.
The team acts for farmers, landowners, estates, trustees and rural businesses, providing practical, commercial advice grounded in an understanding of the rural world.
The work includes farm and rural land acquisitions and disposals, agricultural tenancies, partnership matters, estate management, secured lending and succession planning. We work closely with colleagues across the firm, particularly Private Client, Strategic Land and Renewable Energy, offering a genuinely joined-up service to our clients.
Key responsibilities
You will be involved in a broad range of matters, including:
* Title reviewing and reporting
* Rural land sales and purchases
* Transfers of whole and part
* Overage and option arrangements
* Agricultural tenancies (acting for both landlords and tenants)
* Deeds of easement and wayleaves
* Land registration matters
* Sales by auction
* Secured lending work
* Dealing directly with client, solicitor and internal enquiries
* Maintaining accurate and up-to-date matter schedules
* Participating in business development activities, including events and content creation
* Undertaking continuing professional development and training
Knowledge, experience and skills
You will be able to demonstrate:
* Relevant post-qualification experience in property law (agricultural experience is not essential)
* A commercial, solutions-focused approach to problem solving
* Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
* Excellent attention to detail and a thorough approach to work
* Confident and effective communication skills, both written and verbal
* The ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues at all levels
* A professional and client-focused mindset
About you
Ideally, you will have around one year of post-qualification experience in property law, although this is not a strict requirement. Direct agricultural experience is not essential, but a genuine interest in the countryside, rural businesses and agricultural matters would be a real advantage.
You will be intellectually curious, well-organised and motivated, with a strong academic background. You will enjoy working as part of a team, be keen to learn from others and be proactive in developing your skills and experience.
