The project: Mace has been appointed to support the development and implementation of a digitally enabled PMO function to provide a controlled project environment for the planning, implementation, and delivery of a portfolio-wide programme. This is an unprecedented programme of work and therefore the successful applicant will need to be capable of managing varying levels of ambiguity and implementing logical solutions to ensure the successful delivery of the programme. The role will be required to support the PMO lead, programme lead and project managers in the delivery of projects by providing high-level planning service for the preparation of project plans, producing baseline scheduled tasks, resource profiles and financial models where required. The successful applicant will be involved in improving the consistency, predictability and efficiency of the programme's project delivery capability and providing leadership in best practices. The role will also require exceptional stakeholder management skills, working closely with Mace colleagues, client teams and leaders in addition to the supply chain. The role will ensure that the operational issues of the project controls and PMO are managed, focusing on the project interface with project leaders, project managers, project teams, and supply chain interfaces. You'll be responsible for: Lead on the development of the planning management strategy and application of planning/scheduling methods, techniques and tools across the programme. Work with the Mace, client and supply chain teams to successfully introduce and run an enterprise programme/portfolio management tool with a focus on the planning module. Actively working with the client to enable the scaling of the tool to incorporate additional elements of their portfolio into the tool as required. Advise on complex scenarios, communicating clearly, and providing analysis and input to corrective measures as required. Manage the planning/scheduling delivery of a large volume of low/medium/high complexity projects - ensuring the appropriate controls are applied to each to enable efficient and successful delivery. Play a key role in multidisciplinary teams and take a lead role in the creation, management and validation of plans, analysing trends using the appropriate techniques as required. Manages assistant and planning managers where required by the scale of the programme. Informing, persuading, influencing and constructively challenging a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful programme delivery. This will also include creating and delivering persuasive presentations to senior audiences. Able to advise on complex requirements and communicate analysis and corrective measures effectively. Validating and challenging a wide variety of data insightful commentary and analysis. As a senior member of the team, work to grow the account through developing excellent client relationships, demonstrating exceptional service and establishing management approaches that are scalable to the wider client portfolio. As a PMO specialist, stay up to date with key industry/professional trends - exploring these with the client and applying them to the programme as required. Weekly travel to client offices and sites in London (frequency to be determined) and ad-hoc travel to client regional offices/sites as required. You'll need to have: Experience working as a planner on complex programmes or portfolios working across large data sets to build a coherent and manageable programme of works. Exceptional stakeholder management skills with the ability to inform, persuade, influence and constructively challenge a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders. Understanding of planning methodologies, techniques and processes for programme and project management. Excellent written and verbal communication and influencing skills, at all working and management levels. Demonstrated ability to understand, interpret, evaluate and present complex data from an integrated project controls perspective. Experience working in a large integrated team over the full lifecycle of a project. Substantial proven relevant experience in a project controls environment in a similar PCM environment. Working knowledge of planning tools and software (e.g., MS Excel, portfolio software, MS Project, Primavera P6). You'll also have: Experience with complex programmes and projects, including the associated tooling and methodologies.
