About The Role
We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Deputy Curriculum Manager for Engineering and Construction to support our Curriculum Manager in ensuring the delivery of exceptional teaching, learning, and assessment within this curriculum area. You will play a key role in maintaining the highest standards and driving forward our commitment to providing an outstanding learning experience for all our students. You will take a lead on quality assurance processes and work closely with the Curriculum Manager on the day-to-day operational management of our staff and the diverse Engineering and Construction curriculum. Your focus will be on driving continuous improvement, ensuring our programmes effectively meet the evolving needs of our learners, local employers, and relevant awarding organisations.
Responsibilities
* Lead and oversee internal quality assurance processes, ensuring full compliance with awarding organisation regulations and standards.
* Collaborate with the professional practice team to conduct dip and deep dive activities, monitoring and enhancing the quality of teaching, learning, and assessment. Provide constructive support and targeted feedback to teaching staff to foster professional growth.
* Guarantee the implementation of robust internal verification and assessment practices across all Engineering and Construction programmes.
* Develop and review curriculum plans, schemes of learning, and effective assessment strategies.
* Analyse learner data and KPIs to identify trends and implement action plans to maximise learner success and achievement.
* Support implementation of innovative vocational qualifications, including T-Levels, apprenticeships, and other industry-relevant programmes.
Operational Management & Staff Development
* Work with the Curriculum Manager on day-to-day operations of the Engineering and Construction department, including timetabling, resource allocation, and staff deployment.
* Line manage teaching staff, conduct performance reviews, provide mentoring, and support CPD opportunities.
* Contribute to staff recruitment, induction programmes, and retention strategies.
* Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations in practical/workshop environments.
* Build relationships with external stakeholders, including industry partners and employers.
Learner Experience & Employer Engagement
* Promote a positive learning environment with high learner satisfaction and progression.
* Strengthen relationships with local and regional employers to expand work experience opportunities.
* Support an inclusive and supportive learning environment that meets diverse learner needs.
Qualifications & Experience
* Full teaching qualification with recent relevant CPD.
* Vocational qualification in Engineering or Construction and Level 2 (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
* Willingness to work towards an IQA award (or hold one).
* Experience of curriculum leadership and ICT-involved IQA processes is advantageous.
