Clinical Trials Pharmacist (Band 8a)
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Clinical Trials Pharmacist (Band 8a) to lead and support the pharmacy aspects of clinical trials across all divisions. This pivotal role combines advanced clinical trial pharmacy expertise with strategic and operational leadership, contributing directly to the success of Trust and Oxford University‑led research.
Responsibilities:
* Support the Head of Clinical Trials to provide an efficient service for all aspects of pharmacy‑based clinical trials and promote the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a centre of excellence for Research and Development.
* Strategically plan and manage the workload for the clinical trials that are aseptically prepared by the Partnership Organisation and across all four sites.
* Provide specialised advice to Researchers related to Investigational Medicinal Products (IMPs) and associated products during development of clinical trial protocols and advise on CTA applications.
* Deputise for the Head of Clinical Trials as appropriate.
* Ensure the safe and effective management and use of Investigational Medicinal Products (IMPs) on all sites within the Trust and its research partners in accordance with ICH/GCP, EU Directive 2001/20/EC, FDA, GMP and other relevant regulations.
* Be an active member of the pharmacy department and specialist area/Directorate team, maintaining continuous two‑way exchange of information to uphold high standards of medicines use within the Trust.
Qualifications and Experience
* Qualified to Pharmacy masters degree level (4 year MPharm) or equivalent.
* Registered with the GPhC.
* Postgraduate diploma.
* Experience working as a clinical pharmacist at a high level in a variety of clinical areas.
* Experience working with Clinical Trials.
Desirable Criteria
* Experience with departmental finance or budgeting.
* Management / change management experience.
* QI project qualification.
* Teaching/coaching experience.
* Management and/or Leadership qualifications or courses.
* Involvement in a pharmacist‑led outpatient clinic as a non‑medical prescriber.
Compliance and Legal:
* Postholder will have access to vulnerable people and is required to submit a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as per the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020.
