Maintenance Technician Job ID 222428 Posted 29-Jul-2025 Service line GWS Segment Role type Full-time Areas of Interest Data Centers, Engineering/Maintenance Location(s) Basildon - England - United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Maintenance Technician - Provides 7x24 onsite support and respond to operational emergencies. - Perform routine equipment maintenance and repair of site MEP services. - Provide supervision of third-party installation, maintenance and repair contractors. - Perform facilities site rounds and scheduled inspections and testing. - Maintenance Engineers shall have the appropriate skills to proficiently and professionally perform, the following duties to a high standard, unless such activities are carried out by an approved subcontractor: - MEP plant maintenance and service to include but not be limited to equipment maintenance, refurbishing parts, making new parts, fitting new parts, re-engineering to improve performance and/or reduce maintenance. - Maintenance of wide range of site MEP services - Repair and Refurbishment of large pumps, valves, motors and assemblies etc. - Changing bearings and seals using mechanical pullers, bearing heaters, machining shafts and couplings etc. - Filter changes, strainers, interceptors, drainage - Refurbishment of plant enclosures and structures; panelled components, rust repairs, fabricating replacement parts etc. - Electrical installation in accordance with current legislation. - Proficient in terminating all cable types up to 1000mm sq, installing conduit and metal trunking, tray, ladder rack, basket, Unistrut and general containment. - Inspection, verification and testing of electrical installations in accordance with current legislation - Installation and modification of all sizes of pipework; steel, copper, stainless steel and plastic, welded, crimped, victaulic, soldered, screwed, flanged. - Welding of steel, stainless steel and aluminum using MMA, MIG and TIG welding techniques to accredited standards. - Proficient in the use of Oxy Acetylene equipment & safety. - Ability to design, fabricate and modify small assemblies, brackets, structures, sheet metal work etc. Manufacture replacement parts using workshop machinery and equipment. - Repairs to building fabric, gutters, drainage, joinery, door sets, floor coverings, ceilings etc. - Maintenance of diesel engines and ancillaries to include oil and filter changes, injector seal replacements, gaskets, starters, minor overhauls etc. - Maintenance of site vehicles and portable plant. - Repairs to external fencing, gates, barriers and structures. - Licensed for Fork Truck, MEWP, Boom lift, PASMA, Abrasive wheels, tractor and attachments. - Proficient in the use of workshop machinery and equipment safely, lathe, mill,linisher, bench grinder etc., and portable power tools. - Mechanical lifting and shifting of heavy equipment using chain blocks, strops, shackles, Geni hoist, rollers, turfers, jacks, forklift attachments and Telehandler etc. - Manufacture and/or /modification of control panels to supplied drawings, incorporating PLC's and SCADA/network equipment, inverter drives etc. to supplied drawings. - Fault finding/configuration of electrical systems and PLC controlled control systems using diagnostic software and specialist test equipment - Installation and assembly of data cabinets, cages, enclosures and supporting structures. - Provide backup cover for OCC control room cover when requested. - Snow clearance/gritting using on site equipment. - Hazardous waste management & recycling using licensed third parties as required. What You'll Need: - High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 1-2 years of job-related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered. - Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more. - Ability to follow basic work routines and standards in the application of work. - Communication skills to exchange straightforward information. - Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. - Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
