Together, we deliver high-quality education and skills training across the Tees Valley.

We are proud to announce that we have recently been awarded an Outstanding rating by Ofsted, highlighting the exceptional support, teaching and opportunities we provide to help out students thrive. As we continue to build on this success, there has never been a more exciting time to join our team and make a real difference.

We're passionate about creating greater opportunities for all our students and communities- equipping people with the skills to launch their careers, raise aspirations and power the economic growth of our region. ONE Etc- fuelling ambition and driving success in a resurgent Teesside and beyond. If you share our ambition and energy, we'd love to hear from you.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trainee Lecturer in Art and Design to join our Creative team reporting to our Curriculum Manager for Creative and Digital, Tom Guest. The Creative team at SRC includes Level 1 to Level 3 programmes in Art and Design currently. We received an Outstanding grade from OFSTED and students from our programmes are currently working in all areas of the creative industries.

As a Trainee Lecturer in Art and Design with Etc. you will be responsible for the delivery of art and design to a range of learners, while undertaking a teaching qualification.

The ideal candidate will deliver engaging and inclusive teaching, learning and assessment to learners from Level 1 to Level 3 in Art and Design. You will support students' academic progress and personal development, preparing them for progression into higher education, apprenticeships, or employment.

You will contribute to curriculum planning and the development of creative, industry-relevant projects. In addition, you will provide both formative and summative assessment, ensuring timely and constructive feedback in line with awarding body requirements.

The post holder will undertake and successfully complete an approved teaching qualification during the period of the role. Participation in classroom observation, peer review and reflective practice forms an essential part of the Taking Teaching Forward (TTF) development pathway.

Collaboration is central to the role, and you will work closely with colleagues across the department and wider college to support enrichment activities, exhibitions and showcases. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records of learner attendance, progress and achievement, as well as contributing to course administration, quality assurance processes and standardisation activities.

Safeguarding the health, well-being and safety of students and staff is paramount, particularly as some individuals may be classed as vulnerable people or adults. Should any risk to students or staff become apparent, or concerns arise regarding a vulnerable person's welfare, you must immediately report these in line with the Safeguarding policy and procedure.

You will actively promote equality and diversity, ensuring equal opportunities for all students, staff and visitors. Furthermore, you are required to adhere to the Prevent Duty by working to safeguard students from radicalisation and extremist influences, reporting any concerns in accordance with Safeguarding policies, and promoting British values at all times.

Applicants should hold a degree (or equivalent) in Art, Design or a closely related subject. They should also have some practical experience in a creative or design-related field and demonstrate an interest in developing a teaching career in further education. An awareness of curriculum frameworks in FE at Levels 1 to 3 is required, alongside familiarity with digital design tools, contemporary creative practice, or emerging industry trends.

Candidates must demonstrate strong subject knowledge in art and design, with the ability to inspire learners through both practical and theoretical approaches. They should show a willingness and capacity to undertake a teaching qualification and a clear commitment to continuous professional development. Good organisational skills are essential, including the ability to manage time effectively, handle workload and meet deadlines. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are also vital, ensuring engagement with and motivation of a diverse group of learners. Candidates should be able to reflect on their practice and adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of individual students, as well as demonstrate competence in using IT for learning, assessment and administration.

The successful applicant will show a genuine passion for teaching, learning and supporting students' progression. They will be creative, innovative and enthusiastic in their approach, while also demonstrating flexibility and adaptability with a positive attitude to change and challenge. Professionalism is key, with a commitment to upholding the college's values and safeguarding responsibilities. The ability to work collaboratively, respond positively to feedback and share good practice with colleagues is expected. Finally, resilience, a growth mindset and a commitment to developing as a further education practitioner are essential attributes.
