Salary - Grade 3 - £31,133 per annum Contract-Fixed term until April 2026 Location- Blackburn Central Library with outreach work in Lancashire Hours- Full time, 37.5 per week Closing date: Wednesday 2nd July 2025 at 11:30pm Do you have experience of providing debt advice and advocacy? Then join Shelter as a Debt Adviser and you could soon be playing a vital role in standing up to the housing emergency. About the role Your role will manage a varied caseload providing high quality debt and housing related advice and support. You will need to work flexibly across the Lancashire area, including Blackpool. Working with clients you will do an initial needs assessment and develop support/case plans with aim of maximising their income by reducing outgoings, assessing affordability, setting up budgeting plans, helping to secure a home and repay debts. About you You will need experience of providing debt advice and advocacy and the ability to carry out casework related interviews, maintain detailed case records and deliver group workshops and presentations. You will need the ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders, particularly those with lived experience of homelessness, as well as collaborating with people from other teams and organisations.
