We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to join our team as the Head of Service for Quality First Teaching. This role is pivotal in driving educational excellence and supporting all Torbay schools to deliver outstanding teaching and learning experiences which make a striking impact on outcomes for the children and young people of Torbay.
As the Head of Service for Quality First Teaching, you will:
* Lead the strategic development and implementation of high-quality teaching practices across Torbay's schools.
* Monitor and evaluate teaching, learning and outcomes to ensure consistent high standards, continuous improvement and excellence.
* Provide professional development, guidance, and support to school leaders and teaching staff.
* Collaborate with educational stakeholders to align teaching strategies for greatest impact to outcomes for children and young people.
* Foster a culture of innovation, inclusivity, and excellence in teaching and learning.
The successful candidate will:
* Have relevant teaching qualifications and certifications.
* Significant recent experience in a senior leadership role within an educational alongside significant experience at leading a group of educational settings either through a Trust or Local Authority role.
* A deep understanding of effective teaching practices, curriculum development, and educational policy.
* Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
* An Inclusion Champion with a strong commitment to promoting inclusive and equitable education for all students.
This post meets the requirements for an Enhanced Criminal Record Check. This will show spent and unspent convictions and adult cautions which have not been filtered in line with legislation, plus any information held by local Police that is considered relevant to the role.

Skills
Essential:
* Ability to work at a strategic level with education providers and partners to identify improvements required to deliver the best outcomes.
* Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office and ability to manipulate data to produce management information and reports.
* Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships at all levels across the organisation and with partners in order to influence and get things done.
* An ability to use and interpret data, evidence and research to produce reports, inform activity, decision-making and challenge to the status quo as appropriate.
* Strong communication skills and able to articulate the rights of children in an assertive and effective manner.
This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
Knowledge
Essential:
* Considerable knowledge of curriculum planning and support to improve attainment for children.
* Wide knowledge and understanding of national policies and the legislative framework affecting children, young people and families, and the wider local government and how these apply to local service developments.
* Considerable knowledge of Quality First Teaching for all children and young people.
* Knowledge of Schools business models and finances.
* Knowledge of Children Social Care legislation.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
* Leadership experience in the education sector which has led to positive outcomes for children, young people and families.
* Experience of effective working across organisational boundaries and use of influence within multi-agency settings which has led to improved outcomes for children, young people and families.
* Degree level qualification in Education or a related subject.
* Qualified Teacher Status.
* Evidence continued professional development.
