Runshaw College is one of the most successful colleges in the country, renowned locally and nationally for our outstanding results, a friendly and supportive culture, and a focus on putting the student at the heart of all we do.
We value our staff and students highly, and invest heavily in their development, support and wellbeing. Situated in Leyland, Lancashire, the College is near the M6, M61 and M65 and within commuting distance of Manchester, Liverpool and the Lake District.
We are seeking an outstanding Course Leader to join the A Level Classical Civilisation team within the School of English, Languages and Classics. The Classics department is nationally recognised, having received teaching awards from both the Classical Association and Classics for All, and also runs the Southport and Birkdale branch of the Classical Association.
The successful candidate will lead and teach across our A Level Classical Civilisation programme, including World of the Hero (The Odyssey and The Aeneid), Imperial Image and Greek Religion. Imperial Image will be delivered for the first time from September 2026 and therefore experience of teaching this module, or the ability to plan and design the unit, would be desirable but is not essential. The post holder will have a degree in a relevant subject area and a proven track record of delivering Classical Civilisation or related subjects to a high standard at KS5. They will be able to design and deliver creative and impactful lessons and take a student-centred approach to learning.
This post is fixed term until 9th July 2027
