Housing Supervisor – North East Locality
Salary: £33,287 - £39,129
Hours: 36 per week, 52 weeks
Working pattern: Monday to Friday.
The City of Edinburgh Council operate four hostels across the city and Housing Supervisors provide a vital service in each project by directly supporting residents, many of whom have a history of trauma and/or complex emotional and mental health needs.
Responsibilities
* Provide direct support to residents in each project and work to build positive and supportive relationships while creating a sense of community.
* Help residents maximise their own resources and ability to live independently, with the aim of successfully maintaining a permanent tenancy when leaving the service.
* Work in a challenging environment with emotional resilience, understanding, and commitment to supporting residents who may display challenging behaviour.
* Manage a team of unit wardens who work a 24-hour shift pattern and are responsible for supporting residents in their day-to-day lives, as well as cleaning and preparing rooms/flats when residents move on.
* Contribute to a safe and supportive living environment through effective supervision and coordination of housing services.
Qualifications / Requirements
* We welcome applications from individuals with lived experience of using homelessness or recovery services.
* Ability to demonstrate emotional resilience, understanding, and commitment to supporting residents with complex needs.
* This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. If the applicant has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more outside the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. Unconditional offer of employment is subject to satisfactory outcomes of these pre-employment checks.
