Senior Estimator – Scotland

The Opportunity
We are recruiting on behalf of a leading UK construction business for an experienced Senior Estimator to join their team. This is a fantastic chance to work on high-profile projects across sectors, including health, education, justice, defence, highways, water, and more.
In this role, you will be responsible for the preparation and submission of competitive tenders under a variety of procurement routes. You’ll work closely with the bid team to secure profitable future workload, applying your technical knowledge, commercial expertise, and strong attention to detail to produce accurate budgets, cost plans, and risk assessments.
Key Responsibilities
* Appraise tender documentation and attend strategy/opportunity meetings.
* Prepare material and subcontract enquiries, selecting prospective subcontractors.
* Visit sites to identify project-specific risks.
* Produce tender bills of quantities, analytical cost estimates, and budgets.
* Manage value engineering during the design phase of design and build projects.
* Lead the adjudication and comparison of subcontractor quotations.
* Maintain the tender risk register and ensure risk management throughout the process.
* Present tenders to senior management at settlement meetings.
* Ensure a smooth handover to operational teams post-award.
About You
* Degree in a construction-related discipline (or equivalent experience).
* Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a similar estimating role.
* Strong technical construction knowledge across multiple sectors.
* Experience working with all forms of contract including design & build, 2-stage tenders, and frameworks.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating software.
* Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and commercial acumen.
* Strong communicator with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
