The Position: Principal Process Engineer
We are seeking to appoint a Principal Process Engineer to support the continued growth of our engineering and design consultancy. This position is suited to an experienced process engineering professional with robust technical capability and a proven track record of leading process engineering activities.
As a senior member of the team, you will be responsible for the delivery of complex process design scopes, represent the process discipline in client engagements, and provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
Some of the main responsibilities of the Principal Process Engineer will include:
Leading the preparation, technical review and approval of process engineering deliverables, including process simulations, design calculations, PFDs, P&IDs, datasheets, specifications, process descriptions, philosophies and narratives.
Participating in design reviews, model reviews, and formal safety studies, including HAZIDs, HAZOPs, LOPAs.
Representing the process discipline in client meetings and technical workshops.
Liaising closely with other engineering disciplines and reviewing multi-disciplinary deliverables to ensure technical alignment.
Defining scope, deliverables and resource requirements for process engineering work packages, and providing input to project schedules.
Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
The role provides structured professional development and a clear pathway towards discipline leadership.

Preferred Profile:
A minimum of 12 years of process design experience within a relevant industrial sector.
Degree-qualified in Chemical Engineering and Chartered Member of the IChemE.
Significant experience with process simulation software and the preparation of process engineering deliverables.
Proven ability in leading process engineering activities, ensuring that they are delivered safely, accurately and on time.
Sound understanding of process safety fundamentals and experience in hazard/risk assessments.
Well-developed organisational and teamwork skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
Excellent problem-solving ability and good attention to detail.
