Summary:
We are looking for a proactive Battery Technician to support our battery research and development activities. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a laboratory environment as the role is based in the lab. This includes coin cell assembly, electrode preparation, equipment maintenance and support for electrochemical testing. You will play a key role in the development and evaluation of new battery materials and technologies.
The role is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail, good manual skills and a passion for hands-on scientific work. Prior experience in a battery or materials lab is preferred but not required. The right candidate will also embrace working in a fast paced environment that values continuous improvement.
Duties & Responsibilities:
* Consistently and methodically follow SOPs and test procedures as provided;
* Prepare and assemble prototype cells (coin cells and pouch cells);
* Document fabrication steps, cell IDs, materials used and any deviations from standard;
* Support sample tracking and data collection during cell testing;
* Maintain lab equipment and ensure consumables are well stocked;
* Ensure that health & safety quality standards are upheld across all tasks;
* Feedback and report data and observations to relevant parties;
* Carry out other duties as required for the smooth, safe and efficient running of the cell testing processes and facilities and
* Work with the Cell Testing Lead to identify opportunities for improvement, such as efficiency or accuracy, in existing processes and contribute to implementation.
Required Proficiencies/Experience:
Essential:
* 1+ years of experience in a laboratory or technician role;
* Understanding and following processes and procedures;
* Able to adapt to change and manage priorities;
* Able work both independently and as part of a team;
* Proficient in using Microsoft Office or similar;
* Excellent verbal, visual and written communication skills and
* Awareness of best practice with regards to Health & Safety when working in a lab environment that handles chemicals.
Desirable:
* Experience working with Li-ion cell/battery technology and
* Degree in Engineering, Physics or Chemistry.
Salary/Benefits:
* Base Salary: £27,000 - £34,000 annually depending on experience;
