The Community Assistant handles day-to-day interaction with a game’s fans.
Working in support of the Community Manager, you will be keeping track of what’s happening in forums, creating content for social media and responding directly to users. You may also be attending events on behalf of your studio, and meeting players in person.
This role requires energy and good communication skills, a passion for games and a desire to help fans.
Some, but not all people working as Community Assistants have a degree in Business or Marketing. Above all, you should be organised, friendly, great at listening and bringing people together.
As a professional, you’ll support the Community Manager and help create and grow a community around the game studio and its products. You’ll help fans connect to one another, share news, find feedback and promote the brand at all opportunities. You’ll have a wide knowledge of social media channels and use Customer relationship management (CRM) software like Hubspot, automation platforms like Mailchimp and insight tools like Google Analytics.
Working in the games industry is highly competitive and you’ll need to make sure your CV stands out to employers and course leaders.
As a Community Assistant, experience in the game sector might not always be essential but demonstrating a passion and understanding for games will give you the advantage.
