Hinkley Point A site is a first generation Magnox nuclear power station. As an Environmental Coordinator you will join a dynamic team of environmental professionals focussed on implementing and continually improving arrangements for environmental management across site. Our team’s focus is to ensure that all work complies with our Environmental Permits, company procedures and a broad range of environmental legislation to provide a consistently high level of environmental protection. This opportunity will present you with the chance to use your existing knowledge and expertise in an exciting, varied and interesting industry. I am looking for someone who can develop into a collaborative member of the site, enabling innovative projects which provide long term benefits to our environment.” Key Deliverables Developing and maintaining the arrangements for compliance with environmental statutory and Company requirements including non-RSA waste disposals. Provide authoritative advice on environmental and waste issues. Produce and maintain the consent under the Environmental Impact (EIAD) regulations, including environmental impact assessments. Maintain ISO 14001 certification as appropriate. Maintain the required regulatory approvals as appropriate. Develop and manage the Site Improvement Plan for environmental management. Provide advice and guidance on the Site arrangements for environmental management. Support the Site and Project implementation of environmental & waste arrangements. Support the management of land contamination plans as required. Ensure personal and professional development and training of EHSS&Q staff to deliver an effective and suitably qualified and experienced Function. Ensure effective communication within the Function. Monitor performance and take action or provide advice as necessary to maintain standards and improve performance. Identify good practice in performance at sites and externally, and promote and deploy across the Functions/Sites. Provide expert-level advice, support and guidance on issues throughout the Site. Act for the Site Head of Environment as directed. The post holder may be required to be a member of, and participate in, the Site Emergency Scheme. Comply with the Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies, procedures, work instructions and risk assessments. Support the continuous improvement of Health, Safety Environment and Quality on Site. As a customer-focused individual, the post holder will be expected to support delivery within their range of skills, knowledge, experience and competence. Undertake baseline roles as required. Contribute to the effective development and delivery of training within own area of specialism. Drive improvements in environmental protection. Ensure that adequate records are maintained to meet statutory and Company requirements. Provide advice on requirements for transport and the consignment of materials from the site to other approved locations as appropriate. Qualifications And Experience Educated to NQF level 6 / NVQ Level 6 or equivalent in a post related subject (essential). Detailed knowledge of relevant non-rad environmental legislation (essential). Relevant experience in environmental compliance, monitoring and protection (essential). Membership of a relevant professional institute (essential). Experience at a nuclear site (desirable). Detailed knowledge of International / ISO Standards (desirable). Flexible working – where possible. The equivalent of 25 days (185 hours per year) annual leave plus Public Holidays (59.2 hours per year). This increases by 2 days (14.8 hours per year) annual leave after two full calendar years of service (as at 5th January in the leave year), and an additional 3 days (22.2 hours per year) annual leave after five full calendar years of service (as at 5th January in the leave year). You also have the option to buy or sell the equivalent of 5 days (37 hours) annual leave each year (available in specific windows for the following holiday year). For the purpose of assessing an employee’s annual leave entitlement, a day means seven and two fifths (7.4) hours. A pro rata entitlement will apply for part time workers.
