Job Overview
We are seeking a Locum Consultant in Clinical Oncology with a specialist interest in breast malignancy to join our dynamic and supportive Breast Oncology team at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust (RFL) on the North Middlesex Hospital Health Unit site.
The post‑holder will join the team as a 6 PAs (less than full time) on a fixed‑term contract for 4 ½ months, covering a sabbatical period from May to September 2026.
The North Middlesex hospital oncology team consists of 12 substantive oncology consultants. The breast oncology team has 2 Medical Oncology Consultants and 1 Clinical Oncologist (this post) along with 3 Breast Clinical Nurse Specialists.

Key Responsibilities
* Support the Breast oncology (systemic and radiotherapy treatment) service at North Middlesex Hospital.
* Attend the weekly tumour‑specific Breast MDTs.
* Take responsibility for the designated clinical workload, including all relevant MDMs, out‑patient clinics, and review of in‑patients.
* Participate in clinical trials in breast cancer.
* Participate in the consultant on‑call rota for oncology at North Middlesex Hospital (1 in 16).
* Participate in the consultant‑led review of breast oncology inpatients.
* Work with consultant colleagues and nursing staff to ensure efficient use of Trust’s resources and contribute actively to clinical governance and quality‑enhancement projects.
* Provide postgraduate teaching for junior staff.
* Provide clinical supervision for specialist registrars.
* Participate in undergraduate medical student teaching.
* Comply with all clinical governance processes and procedures of the Trust.
* Comply with Patients’ Charter and purchasers’ requirements.
* Lead and participate in medical audit as per Royal College of Physicians guidelines.
* Maintain Continuing Professional Development accreditation as per Royal College of Physicians guidelines.
* Participate in the Trust appraisal programme and GMC revalidation processes.
* Support the requirements for Continuing Medical Education as laid down by the Royal College of Physicians and benefit from time and financial support for these activities.
Education and Training
North Middlesex University Hospital is recognised for teaching excellence. The appointee will have opportunities to be involved in formal teaching sessions and training for junior staff, including participating in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
