Are you a skilled multi-disciplinary engineer looking for a role that challenges and rewards? We’re seeking a Automation Maintenance Engineer, at our Midlands Super Hub, Drift Drive, Crick, NN6 7GZ site, to ensure the smooth running of our cutting-edge automation systems.
Royal Mail is undergoing one of the biggest technological transformations in its history, moving to a predominantly mechanised parcel sortation process. With a major investment in state-of-the-art automation technology, this is an exciting time to join us and help shape the future of delivery services in an ever-growing e-commerce society.
Salary: £53,195 plus night shift allowance of £2,500 per annum, 22.5 days annual leave (15 shifts) plus bank holidays and a defined contribution pension scheme. A weekend supplement for Saturday (£51 per attendance) and Sunday (£102 per attendance) shift attendance is applicable.
Shift attendance equates to 40 hours per week - Full time.
The successful candidate will be required to follow the Midlands Superhub shift rotation system, as outlined below with some degree of voluntary flexibility to meet our 24/7 operational needs on occasion, including voluntary overtime coverage and occasional shift pattern flexibility.
The role will cover an 8 week rota of 2 weeks days and 2 weeks nights and will include weekend working example rota below.
Panama shift pattern - Days - 06:30 - 18:30 | Nights - 18:30 - 06:30 | Days - 07:00 - 19:00 | Nights - 19:00 - 07:00
The role

Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of automation assets through completion of effective maintenance procedures.
Key aspects of the role include:
• Perform maintenance tasks, including preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance
• Performing continuous improvement activities
• Provide effective and efficient support to the Engineering Manager, Maintenance Team Leader and Engineering Team Coaches, completion of end of shift reports, fault logging and data entry
• Identify the root cause of automation breakdowns and prioritize corrective actions to meet operational processing requirements
• Monitor equipment performance and improve automation outputs in collaboration with operational stakeholders
• Identifying and working on Continuous Improvement projects, conception to implementation ownership, for machinery in the Hub/ Mail Centre
• Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team to achieve common goals
About you
As an experienced multi-skilled engineer you’ll be qualified in electrical and mechanical engineering (minimum ONC Electrical Engineering / NVQ Level 3 – or equivalent). Understanding Health & Safety legislation, you’ll have first-hand experience of maintaining automation equipment with a flexible approach and the ability to communicate complex issues effectively. Controls engineering and Auto Guided Vehicle (AGV) experience would be an advantage.
