Would you like to be Head Baker in our Creative Gardens Team?Based in the North Down area we have an exciting opportunity for a skilled baker to make our delicious homemade scones, desserts, cakes and traybakes daily.We have plans for expansion of our bakery department regards our retail range which is sold in our garden centre shops and this role would help with progressing and implementing this.
Responsibilities
* Prepare baked items in accordance with Creative Gardens recipes, menus and food policies to ensure consistency between our 4 cafes.
* Be aware and fully understand food allergies and intolerances.
* Daily baking tasks would include making scones, wheaten bread, large desserts, traybakes, shortbreads and cakes for our cafe but also for our expanding retail bakery range.
* To have excellent attention to detail and presentation skills.
* To assist and review daily baking lists and prioritise daily as required.
* Bakery recipe development along with our Group Head Chef.
* Assist in our expansion plans regards our bakery retail range.
* Ensure stock rotation and correct storage methods are achieve at all times.
* Communicate effectively with other bakers and our kitchen teams, including Head Chef and Cafe Manager.
* Be able to work well as part of a team or individually with a self motivated and positive attitude.
* Assist in reporting equipment maintenance issues promptly.
* Assist with H&S procedures, HACCP plan and compliance with Environmental Health requirements and legislation.
* Hygiene practices and cleanliness in the kitchen must be of the highest standard.
* Assist with training new or current staff members.
* Undertake future and refresher training as appropriate.
* Undertake any other reasonable catering duties when required.
Skills and Qualifications
* Has at least two-years relevant commercial baking experience or comparable/ transferrable experience.
* Has good knowledge of environmental health procedures, HACCP and relevant written records.
* Proficient in both verbal and written communication facilitating clear and effective interaction with staff and management. Has excellent communication skills to help lead and work within a team.
* Maintains high standards across all aspects of the bakery department, including food quality and presentation, hygiene/ cleanliness, health & safety and meticulous approach to tasks.
* Demonstrates the ability to adapt to changing circumstances as well as the ability to handle various tasks within a busy kitchen setting. Be able to work well under pressure and manage your time effectively.
* Capable of performing required tasks such as bending, stooping, lifting heavy objects and standing for extended periods.
* Capable of working effectively with a team, being able to work together to complete daily lists and tasks whilst begin able to give direction to baking colleagues.
* Holds three or more years’ relevant experience within a similar role and setting.
* Hold an up-to-date Food Hygiene certificate.
* Holds a relevant catering or cooking certificate or qualification.
* Has dealt with bakery retail items previously in some form.
Further Information
Available to work from 6.30am 5 days per week over 40 hours, on a rota basis, to include weekends.
