Job overview An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Band 6 Nurse to join the Clinical Investigation Unit (CIU) at Royal Surrey County Hospital. The CIU is a specialist outpatient unit delivering high-quality care for patients undergoing dynamic endocrine function tests and other specialist investigations and delivering lipid clinic services. This role is ideal for a nurse who enjoys autonomous practice, patient education, and working closely within a multidisciplinary team. About You We are looking for a registered nurse (NMC) with: • Recent post-registration experience in an acute setting • Strong clinical skills and confidence working autonomously • Excellent communication and organisational skills • A commitment to delivering safe, compassionate, high-quality care • Leadership skills with the ability to support and guide others Experience in endocrine nursing, outpatient services, or dynamic function testing is desirable, but training and support will be provided. You will be proactive and above all, an excellent communicator. Understanding the importance of patient care you must have the ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patients, recognising the specific needs of patients and relatives. You will be involved in inspiring and supporting a diverse, well-established group through effective coaching and engaging team meetings. Working alongside consultants and fellow CIU nurses, you will be responsible for undertaking and coordinating dynamic function tests, supporting patients throughout their investigations, coordinating lipid clinics and contributing to the ongoing development o the service The nurse will be based on CIU RSCH, which is an outpatient unit. They will ensure smooth running of outpatient’s clinics and process dynamic function tests (DFTs) as necessary. She will also contribute to management of CIU.
