PHPRU Forest Wood Assessment Centre, provides high quality assessment and teaching of young children aged 4-7 with a range of complex special educational needs, in particular autism.
The Management Committee of PHPRU are seeking to appoint a full time Teaching Assistant, to join the existing team from September 2025. They will be committed to, and enthusiastic about, early intervention and maximising individual potential. This post involves working alongside a range of professionals and families and therefore, requires someone with an outgoing personality, a positive outlook on life and a willingness to undertake a range of tasks.
The successful candidate will gain experience of working with children, with a range of abilities/medical needs predominantly those with ASD from lower foundation stage to end of Key Stage 1. The post is fixed for September 2025 to July 2026
We are looking for someone, ideally, with a good understanding of our pupils' special educational needs and/or prior experience of working in education to:
* support teachers in delivering an appropriate and outstanding curriculum
* support young children aged 4-7 years old to the end of KS1, who have complex special educational and health needs, both with class based activities and over lunchtime
* be able to maintain a positive approach when faced with challenges
* support assessment within the provision
* participate as a team member in the operation, promotion, evaluation and development of the Forest Wood Assessment Centres and to work collaborately
* ensure the safety and welfare of all pupils
