Overview
The School of Applied Sciences (SOAS) is a highly successful, dynamic and evolving School comprising approximately 100 academic and research staff and 60+ PGR researchers. It delivers a cohesive portfolio of science courses and CPD, encouraging multidisciplinary working and a problem‑solving mindset. The School is supported by three UWE Research Centres: the Centre for Biomedical Research (CBR), the Science Communication Unit (SCU), the Centre for Sustainable Agri‑food and Environment (SAFE) and the Institute of Biosensing Technology (IBST). It has state‑of‑the‑art research facilities including molecular biology laboratories, cell culture facilities, imaging suite, human analysis laboratory, electron microscope unit and specialised biosensor development facilities.
We have a very successful and growing portfolio of health‑related programmes. Historically, we have delivered programmes in Biomedical Sciences and, more recently, we have developed a highly successful MSc in Health Technology and an MSc Applied Transfusion and Transplant Science in partnership with NHS Blood and Transplant. About the Role
We are seeking an established and exceptional academic leader to develop Pharmacy at UWE Bristol as Professor of Pharmacy. The role includes the development of a new MPharm programme and expansion of the pharmacy subject through Professional Development courses (CPD) and research activities. The successful candidate will lead the Pharmacy subject group and manage a team of pharmacy academic staff.
Responsibilities
* Lead the development and delivery of the new MPharm programme, working through the GPhC accreditation process.
* Manage the Pharmacy subject group, providing leadership, motivation and strategic direction.
* Contribute significantly to research with impact, advancing teaching and learning, and knowledge exchange, practice and innovation.
* Use external networks to enhance the pharmacy portfolio through new CPD provision.
* Support staff development and mentor junior colleagues.
Qualifications
* PhD in a subject relevant to pharmacy or a master’s qualification with significant professional practice experience.
* GPhC registration.
* Significant track record in areas such as pharmacogenomics, personalised prescribing, cancer biology, patient engagement, pharmacy education and curriculum design.
* Experience with curriculum development for the MPharm (2021 curriculum) and meeting GPhC standards.
* Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams, collaborate across the College and align with UWE values.

This is a permanent, full‑time position. Salary offers are made in line with UWE’s salary assessment and professorial merit pay guidelines and are based on your relevant skills, experience and research profile.
