Job Purpose
To coordinate the daily operations of the waste collection fleet at Lowmac Alloys Ltd, ensuring the efficient and compliant scheduling of collections, deliveries, and exchanges across customer sites. The primary role, based on the hire desk at the Irvine site, is to efficiently manage our RoRo / artic services. This role will also provide support to the wider logistics department as required contributing to the overall performance and customer satisfaction of division.
Key Responsibilities
· Plan and schedule Artic and RoRo vehicle routes efficiently, maximising productivity and minimising fuel use and downtime.
· Communicate daily schedules and instructions clearly to drivers and respond promptly to operational changes or issues.
· Liaise with customers to confirm bookings, resolve service queries and ensure a high level of customer service.
· Monitor vehicle and driver availability including holiday cover, sickness, and shift patterns.
· Support the wider logistics department during periods of high demand, absence or holiday cover.
· Ensure compliance with transport legislation including drivers' hours, vehicle maintenance schedules and tachograph regulations.
· Maintain accurate records of movements, driver hours and service logs using in-house transport systems and software.
· Collaborate with yard teams, weighbridge and customer service departments to ensure seamless service delivery.
· Assist with daily and weekly transport reporting, including KPIs, route efficiency and service performance.
· Promote a safety-first culture and ensure all activities align with company health, safety, and environmental procedures.
Requirements and Qualifications
· Proven experience in a transport coordination or logistics scheduling role, preferably within the waste, recycling, or skip hire industry.
· Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective driver and customer interaction.
· Demonstrated customer service experience with a focus on professionalism and client satisfaction.
· IT literate, with experience using transport management systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
· Good geographical knowledge of Ayrshire area.
· Knowledge of logistics operations within the Waste Industry (desirable but not essential).
· CPC qualification (desirable but not essential).
· IOSH Managing Safely qualification or willingness to work towards achieving it.
· Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced, service-led environment.
