University Hospitals of Derby and Burton (UHDB) would like to offer an opportunity for an enthusiastic Radiologist who wish to develop their career in our department's traditionally friendly, harmonious and supportive environment.
This is a substantive full-time appointment to support the Imaging services across UHDB. The post is based at the UHDB, mainly split between two major sites with acute care facilities (Royal Derby Hospital Queens Hospital Burton). The post attracts 10 PAs (8.5 DCC + 1.5 SPA) but we would be happy to consider part time working arrangements.
We are looking to appoint a General Consultant Radiologist with sub speciality interest in Breast Imaging. The appointed candidate will work with a team of established specialist radiologists providing diagnostic imaging expertise in Radiology.
The University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust have 50+ Consultant Radiologists (part and full time). In addition, we have 18 Speciality Registrars on rotation from Nottingham and Leicester. The appointed consultant is expected to cover general reporting in addition to their sub-speciality work and participate on the diagnostic on call rota at the Royal Derby Hospital.
The on-call work will be supported by a large cross site team of 12 reporting radiographers reporting plain film and MSK MRI. Also 3 consultant Radiographers, 1 of which is a Breast consultant Radiographer.
The Breast Service at is a large, integrated, cross-site unit delivering high-quality, patient-centred care across both symptomatic and screening pathways. The service mainly operates from the Royal Derby Hospital (RDH) and Queen's Hospital Burton (QHB), which merged breast services in 2017 to form a unified multidisciplinary offering that supports a population spanning Derbyshire and Staffordshire.
In addition, we operate a static screening site at Florence Nightingale Community Hospital and our three mobile units are rotated across the region. In total we have 10 mammography machines (GE and Hologic) and 4 US (GE and Samsung) machines.
We provide the full spectrum of breast imaging and diagnostic services, including symptomatic one-stop clinics, screening assessments, image-guided biopsy, pre-operative localisation, MRI, CESM, MDT participation, and interval cancer review.
The service is supported by an extensive, experienced multidisciplinary team comprising Consultant Breast Radiologists, Consultant Surgeons, Oncologists, Pathologists, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, one Consultant radiographer, Breast Care Nurses, IDAs, and a strong administrative workforce. s.
